The Global Beacon Community of prayer. (Lay Movements XVI).Many of the new lay movements in the Church are prayer communities. Because of the importance of these prayer communities we are introducing one here as an example, and would be pleased to introduce others, especially those in more than one province, whether or not they also have an active apostolate a·pos·to·late n. 1. The Global Beacon Community was founded in Toronto in 1978 by Professor John McRae, father of six children, as a Catholic movement based on the teachings of the Magisterium mag·is·te·ri·um n.
