* TED (Triteal Enterprise Desktop) An earlier implementation of the Common Desktop Environment (CDE) user interface for Unix workstations from Triteal Corporation, Carlsbad, CA. TED included a variety of additional enhancements while conforming to CDE, which allowed it to run on all Unix computers. NTED provided access to applications on NT servers from within TED. WAITT. The Gateway Computer (Gateway, Inc., N. Sioux City, SD, www.gateway.com) A major PC manufacturer founded in 1985 by Ted Waitt and Mike Hammond. Gateway first sold peripherals to owners of Texas Instrument computers. In 1987, it began to offer complete systems and has continued to drive down the cost of quality PCs by mail. In 1997, it acquired ALR (Advanced Logic Research), a PC company founded in 1984 and noted for its high-end machines. founder is still trying to sell personal computers, but let's face it, Ted, Michael Dell has blown you away. Time to lose the ponytail, pack up in San Diego and go back to South Dakota. Or wherever.
