Father Schroedel is an Eastern Orthodox priest and a national speaker on theological topics to Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant audiences. Jenny Schroedel is a columnist, the author of a children's book (St Kevin) and of articles on spirituality. The Everything Mary Book is intended to answer all questions concerning the Blessed Virgin. To go through the book creates the impression that the book has achieved this end.

The index indicates the many aspects that the study of Mary deals with: who she is; the Gospel accounts, Mary in the Apocrypha (ancient non-approved texts); Mary in the Old Testament; Mary in the Church Councils; statues, pictures, icons; Mary in the Church year; Mary among the saints; Mary in the Middle Ages; Mary in the Reformation Reformation, religious revolution that took place in Western Europe in the 16th cent. It arose from objections to doctrines and practices in the medieval church (see Roman Catholic Church) and ultimately led to the freedom of dissent (see Protestantism). ; Marian apparitions A Marian apparition is an event in which the Virgin Mary is believed to have supernaturally appeared to one or more persons, typically Catholics, although not always devout or always Catholic or Christian, in various settings.  and messages; early Marian appearances; modern Marian appearances; Mary in Catholic theology; Mary in popular culture; Mary in prayer; Marian devotions The following Marian devotions are intercessions to God through the mediation of Mary, the mother of Jesus, or acts of devotions focusing on Mary .
  • Hail Mary
  • Salve Regina (Hail, Holy Queen)
  • Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Mary, Mother of Grace
; Mary and Islam; Mary and feminism feminism, movement for the political, social, and educational equality of women with men; the movement has occurred mainly in Europe and the United States. It has its roots in the humanism of the 18th cent. and in the Industrial Revolution. ; Mary as a bridge-builder.

It would seem too arbitrary to select only a few of these topics for special attention. But it should be pointed out that one topic alone is worth the cost-price of the whole book: Mary and Islam.

The authors of this book are quite competent. They have achieved excellence in a monumental task. If you would like to have some of your own questions about Mary answered, if you would like to give exceptionally fitting Christmas presents this year, you could not do better than to buy this large-print book.
