(EGI), a Northeast systems integrator and Enterprise Solutions Partner in the Symantec Partner Program, has earned multiple Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE) certifications in vulnerability management and intrusion detection. To earn these certifications, EGI demonstrated proven expertise in vulnerability management and intrusion detection and specific Symantec products.

Two EGI consultants have earned three SCSE certifications by completing comprehensive, hands-on training, including several classroom and self-study hours along with technology- and product-specific exams. To achieve SCSE status with certification in vulnerability management and intrusion detection, EGI personnel demonstrated overall knowledge in security planning, deployment and utilization along with product proficiency on Symantec Enterprise Security Manager, Symantec NetRecon, Symantec Intruder Alert and Symantec NetProwler.

Marshall expects six additional EGI employees to be SCSE-certified by Spring 2003 along with two employees certified at the highest level of Symantec certification -- Symantec Certified Security Practitioner (SCSP). In addition to the current SCSE certifications, eight EGI employees have obtained 18 Symantec Product Specialist (SPS) credentials.

The Symantec Certification Program provides fee-based online and instructor-led technical training and includes courses in firewall and VPN technologies, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and virus protection and content management. A passing grade on the appropriate certification exams enables partners to earn Symantec certification credentials at four different levels:

-- Symantec Product Specialist (SPS): focuses on a single Symantec security product and its functionality in an overall security system;

-- Symantec Technology Architect (STA): focuses on vendor-neutral security knowledge of how to design, plan, deploy and manage security solutions within a specific focus area such as vulnerability management;

-- Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE): has, in addition to product specific training and certification, a high level understanding of and the ability to design, plan, deploy and manage security solutions within a specific focus area such as vulnerability management; and

-- Symantec Certified Security Practitioner (SCSP): is a senior consultant with in-depth knowledge and expertise across the complete range of security disciplines who has achieved SCSE certification in all security categories.
