RICHARD ELLIS There are several prominent people named Richard Ellis, including

Ellis, a renowned marine illustrator and sea lover, explores the plight of the world's oceans and discusses what can be done to restore their bounty. He reports that overharvesting of the oceans has gone on for millennia. This, combined with the introduction of nonnative species and pollution to various seas, threatens the entire ocean ecosystem. Ellis presents sea creatures that either are extinct or are seriously threatened, including whales, great auks great auk: see auk.
