WorldGroup, a leading provider of mission-critical software solutions for the global utility market, today announced that the Electricity Authority of Cyprus The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) currently holds a monopoly on electricity generation in Cyprus although the market is open to other companies. It operates through three power stations:
  • Dekelia Power Station
  • Moni Power Station
  • Vasilikos Power Station
(EAC EAC an abbreviation used in studies of complement, in which E represents erythrocyte, A antibody, and C complement. ) has chosen the SPL Customer Care & Billing solution (CC&B) to enable it to successfully tackle and overcome the challenges arising from market deregulation Deregulation

Traditional areas that have been deregulated are the telephone and airline industries.
in Cyprus in accordance with EU directives and the consequent opening up of the electricity market to competition.

Since its founding in 1952, the EAC has grown rapidly in line with the island's need for electricity and today, serving more than 420,000 customers, continues to grow at an annual rate of 8%. This trend in demand for electricity is expected to be sustained in the future because of the new needs being created by the island's buoyant economy and its numerous industrial, commercial and residential development programs. Infrastructure developments, particularly in the tourism sector, are putting a great strain on the island's electricity distribution network, prompting the EAC to proactively extend it to meet these growing needs.

"Our mission is to supply the island of Cyprus with safe and reliable electrical energy at competitive prices while providing customer service of the highest quality and making the most efficient use of our capital resources and expertise," says George Petousis, EAC Customer Service Executive Manager. "Over the years, we have been under pressure to meet the market's constantly growing need for electricity and with our accession to the EU last year, the time has now come for us to undertake a radical restructuring of our business processes to meet the challenges of this new era in Cyprus. SPL's CC&B solution will significantly contribute to our ability to achieve this goal because of the flexibility it offers companies operating in competitive markets and also its track record of successful implementations around the world."

Brad Kitchin, Regional Services Director for SPL WorldGroup, commented, "This project demanded a highly configurable solution to enable the EAC to keep pace with the rapid expansion of their market and enhance the level and quality of the services they offer their customers now and in the future."

"The Electricity Authority of Cyprus conducted a very thorough and comprehensive vendor evaluation for a world-class billing and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) An integrated information system that is used to plan, schedule and control the presales and postsales activities in an organization.  solution that would enable them to completely revamp their operations. SPL is proud to have been selected. We look forward to a very successful implementation project and a longstanding relationship thereafter," said Scott Miller, General Manager EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Refers to that region of the world.
