Scooby-Doo's name was inspired by Frank Sinatra's improvisations at the end of Strangers in the Night; and the members of Mystery, Inc. were inspired by the cast of The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis.

Scooby-Doo will go live in 2002 starring in the first-ever Warner Bros. Pictures live-action feature film, Scooby-Doo.

These characters have laid a foundation for children to cooperate in problem solving:

Scooby-Doo and Mystery, Inc. form one of the most effective and longest-running cartoon groups of mystery-solving friends on television today.

Scooby-Doo encourages children to develop nonviolent solutions to challenges and problems.

Scooby-Doo always demonstrates consistency in solving challenges and problem situations.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION COLUMBIA, commends Scooby-Doo and Mystery Inc. for over thirty years of providing a positive role model of cooperative problem solving to children and adults everywhere.
