 and marching band fans won't want to miss some of the top Drum Corps International Drum Corps International (DCI), formed in 1972, is the non-profit governing body operating the North American drum and bugle corps circuit for junior corps, whose members are between the ages of 13 and 22.  (DCI) performances ever recorded, marching into nearly 150 select movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. local time (Alaska locations start at 6:00 p.m.). The DCI Classic Countdown Big Screen Concerts(SM) event is the ultimate drum corps cinema showdown, featuring three hours of the top 12 drum corps performances of all time, covering more that 4 decades of DCI finals performance video archives.

More than 7,000 drum corps fans swamped the online polls at www.dci.org to vote for their favorite performances from the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. The corps will be featured in chronological order on screen, but drum corps fans will have to wait for the winning corps to be revealed on the big screen at the end of the in-theatre event. The 12 corps that have been selected for the 2006 DCI Classic Countdown are:

The DCI Classic Countdown Big Screen Concerts(SM) event is presented by National CineMedia and Drum Corps International. Jessika Filler, a member of the Seattle Cascades who viewed the 2005 Classic Countdown in Dublin, Calif., said about last year's experience, "The theater we were in was absolutely packed, and it really felt like we were watching a drum corps show! Everyone was screaming, applauding, laughing, cheering, it was so much fun!"

The DCI Classic Countdown is one of two in-theatre events to be presented by Drum Corps International and National CineMedia this year. On August 10, 2006, DCI Cinema Live, the live cinecast of the 2006 World Championship Quarterfinals featuring the top 17 Division I corps in the world, will be beamed into movie theatres around the country live-via-satellite from Camp Randall Stadium Coordinates:
 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
