European Cutting Tooling Systems produces a new one-piece counterbore or countersink type bit. The bits are available with a brad point or through-bore tip, with either a counterbore (flat bottom cut) or countersink (V-shaped bottom cut) built into the bits. All of the bits are made with carbide tips and manufactured according to customers' specifications.

Great Lakes Carbide Tool's custom cutting tools feature the Great-Loc patented insert system, winner of a Challenger's Distinguished Achievement Award. The company's products include panel cutters MDF door sets, tongue & groove counter banding cutters, fingerjoint cutters, tenoner hogging units, dado bar siding tooling, end match tooling and spiral, planing and profile tooling.

Herco and 3D Diamond Cutting Tools have developed PCD diamond tooling designed especially for the hardwood industry. The tools create more consistent shapes, allow for higher production levels and have less down time, the company says, noting that tool life is 25 to 100 times longer than carbide tools. The tools are available as routers, shapers, molders and single- and double-end tenoners.

Jesada Tools' line of solid carbide router bits is designed for particleboard, melamine and other abrasive materials. The bits use a sub-micrograin carbide that wears down more slowly than bits with coarse carbide, Jesada says. The 1/2-inch shank straight bits are available in cutter diameters from 1/8 in. to 1/2 in. and lengths from 1 1/2 in. to 3 in.

L.R.H. Enterprises' Magic Molder is a profile moulder head used on a table saw to cut mouldings and meets strict European safety standards, the company says. It also allows the user to make paint-grade moulding and natural wood moulding. It is available with 70 interchangeable carbide-tipped detail plugs.

DML 911 Hydro-Loc Super Cylinder Cutterheads from Wood Tech Enterprises Inc. enable moulder heads to be run on arbors with keyways and slightly undersized arbors (up to 0.002 in.) with no distortion, the company says. The cylinders have greater resiliency to metal fatigue due to a thinner body wall and are available in inch and metric sizes.

Bull Sharpening Services provides a full range of solid carbide router bits, including IE straights, O-flute, spirals, compressions, ruffers, chip breakers and slow spirals. The company also performs CNC sharpening on all solid carbide sprial bits.

Dima-Chrome tooling from Precision Cuffing Tools Inc. provide increased tool life. Advantages include major reductions in cost of tooling per product price, reduced downtime for tool changes and improved quality of cut due to a reduction in the tool abrasion process, the company says.

Hayes Tools Inc. offers single-, double- and triple-flute cutting tools that allow for high chip removal and faster feed rates, the company says. The tools are ground to have a no-load chip clearance design. The line consists of spiral upcut and spiral downcut, in either LE or RH cut. Hayes says its newly designed compression spirals perform extremely well at slow or ultra-high feed rates.

North American Products Corp.'s line of diamond tooling includes saw blades, profile cutterheads, "T" slot cutters, standard router bits and custom-profiled router bits. The company also provides in-house sharpening of diamond tools.

Misenheimer Saw & Tool's line of spiral router bits includes models with and without chipbreakers, two- and three-flute styles with upcut or downcut and either 1+1 or 2+2 solid compression. The company also manufactures carbide-tipped brazed tooling, insert tooling and diamond tooling.

CMT USA has introduced a new line of solid carbide spiral bits for high-speed machines. The bits feature a super-micro-grain carbide formula created to produce an extremely sharp and longer-lasting cutting edge, the company says. The bits have a low-angle helix design for efficiency in chip ejection and allows higher feed rates without breakage. The design also allows the tooling to run cooler and maintain a sharp cutting edge longer. They are available in upcut, downcut, compression and chipbreaker roughing designs in various sizes.

Ousrud Cutter has announced a new high-velocity router bit -- HVRB -- with an ultra-fast feed rate and high production capabilities, the company says. The chipbreaker-finisher four-flute design provides the fatest feed rates, an excellent finish, lower horsepower requirements and reduced pressure in fixturing, Onsrud says, helping to improve CNC router productivity.

DML, a division of the Primark Tool Group, has converted over one-third of its line of 300 router bits to a controlled cut, European-style body. Carbide-tipped groove-forming router bits and slotting cutters with diameters greater than 1 in. are included in the style. The body design limits cutting edge bite to 1/16 in. to provide greater control.

The OPTI treatment from Wisconsin Knife Works is applied to HSS knives, milled-to-pattern bits and finger joint cutters in a process which produces an ultra-hard surface on the cutters, the company says. The treatment is specifically designed for natural woods where the finish of high-speed steel tooling is desired with up to 50 percent longer life.

Super Thin Saws offers the Rip Saver and Kerfslicer Series of thin-rim saw blades. The Rip Saver Series is for straight line or gang ripping applications and produces a kerf of 0.030 in. to 0.090 in. The Kerfslicer is for use on moulders and is ideal for producing slats for louvers, blinds and edgebanding, splitting S4S moulding, grooving and custom applications on single- or double-arbor moulders.

DeHart Tooling Components has developed a new insert tool designed for use on moulders utilizing a splitter blade. The tool produces a chamfered edge in conjunction with the saw blade. The tool bodies are produced in right- and left-hand sets and are specially designed to support thin-kerf saw blades.

Fletcher Diamond Tooling offers a comprehensive range of PCD tools and services for the woodworking industry, including cutterheads, tongue & groovers, saw blades, router bits, T-slot cutters, profile router bits and fast tool sharpening.

Wadkin offers a range of TS cutter-heads with advanced full-length hydro-lock engineering, the company says. The TS heads are pressurized along the head's entire bore length for greater holding power and are available in 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 knife configurations, with any bore size, at any cutting angle.

Amana Tool's new DynaBit laminate bit provides speed, long life and an extra-clean edge, the company says. The bit also features a 6[degrees] downshear and abrasion-resistant carbide that won't "lift" laminate front substrate. It is available with a 1/4- or 1/2-in. shank.

The expanded series at Proline saw blades from Leuco Tool Corp. fit European and U.S. standard sizes and give longer edge life than conventional blades, the company says. The blades are available in 10, 12, 14 and 16 in. diameters with a 5/8 or 1 in. bore and ATB, combination, rip FL, rip TC and TC grind.

FS Cruing offers precision diamond saw blades and router bits with polycrystalline diamond tips for machining materials such as plywood, MDF, chipboard and plastics.

Freeborn Tool Co. offers carbide and T-alloy-tipped shaper cutters for reversible glue joints, concave and convex shapes and cope and pattern sets with six pieces that can be stacked in varying configurations to perform three separate functions.

Riverside Tool Corp. offers a line of profile ground inserts in three grades of carbide, all of which are CNC ground. The company says it can make custom inserts using a customer's print, wood sample or specifications.

Colonial Saw has introduced its new UTMA fully automatic 4-axis CNC Profile Grinder. The Model P20-CNC4 is used for profiling HHS, carbide and tantung inserts, cutters, router bits, moulder heads, shapers and more. The grinder features AC digital servo motors for all axes and an electronic handwheel for fine micrometric adjustments.
