The Coral Champion Stakes final.

1Go Big Hitter Dean Childs He just seemed to fall in love with Romford from day one. A lot of very talented dogs go to Romford and don't make finals because they're not really suited to the track. Go Big Hitter may not be the fastest around, but he runs the track as well as any dog can run it and that gives him a big advantage. Trap one is a decent draw for him, and it's given me a measure of confidence ahead of the final. He was nicely freshened up prior to the competition and, if he manages to get on the bunny, he'll prove difficult to catch. He's in the form of his life, and credit must go to Lee [Kemp, kennelhand], who has worked hard on him. His owner [Steve Taylor] is getting married to Rebecca Wadley this month, so it would be a fantastic wedding present if the dog managed to win.

Paul Antony Young (born 17 January 1956) is an English pop musician. He is not to be confused with the late singer Paul Young who was in Sad Café and Mike & The Mechanics.
He's definitely not without a chance, particularly if managing to lead Go Big Hitter in the early stages. Plenty of the hot-shots went out earlier in the competition which has given some of the bigger-priced runners at the start a serious chance of winning a Category One. Bubbly Rambo ran really well the other night - he didn't lead, but shot up the rails and kept plugging away. He's a really difficult dog to pick up when he leads - he keeps on pulling - and I think he's well over-priced in the betting. We've had a good year so far, with plenty of winners, and have reached several big finals. We haven't really enjoyed any luck in the finals of the major events, though. It would be nice to nick a big competition on our home turf, and we've got two finalists in there with a chance. Owners: Champagne Club 3White Blaze Paul Young He's been running with credit against good-class dogs all year. He went off the boil a bit at one stage, but we freshened him up and he came back well. White Blaze made the final of the Cesarewitch at Oxford in June [finished fifth to He Went Whoosh whoosh   also woosh

] and is very well at present. He did what he had to do in the semi-final [finished two and a half lengths behind Go Big Hitter in second place], and is not out of it. It's a wide-open final after many of the big guns were eliminated. We know what the likes of Mr Wallis and Mr Savva can do in finals, but don't rule us out. We're on home territory, and I expect my two to run well. Obviously Champion Stakes The Champion Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course in October. It was first run in 1877.  night is the biggest in Romford's calendar - what with the Sky coverage and everything - and it's a race that I'd love to win. Owners: Eddie and Maureen Jones 4Kinda Easy Mark Wallis I'm delighted he's come back to form. His win in the heat was his first since the first round of the Derby [beat Bandicoot bandicoot, small marsupial mammal native to Australia and nearby islands. There are 19 species in eight genera. Bandicoots have long, pointed, shrewlike faces; gray or brown fur; and long, bushy, ratlike tails.  Tipoki]. With the likes of Lenson Joker, Droopys Carvalho and Bubbly Totti all knocked out, it appears a wide-open final. We've probably got to find a bit of time, but he's more than capable of doing so - just like his brother Kinda Ready, he can raise his game at the end of competitions; it's proving to be a fantastic litter. All the boys are looking forward to another big night, and trap four won't inconvenience the dog in the slightest. He's got to break well, but I feel he's going there with a reasonable chance and expect him to come on for his two runs. A 35.60sec time could well be good enough, and he's definitely capable of clocking that. Owners: Daren Johnson, Chris Badger badger, name for several related members of the weasel family. Most badgers are large, nocturnal, burrowing animals, with broad, heavy bodies, long snouts, large, sharp claws, and long, grizzled fur.  and Gary Crouch 5Cranham Star Patsy Cusack He's got a chance - a big chance if he comes away like he did in the semi. Obviously I'd have preferred trap six for him, but five isn't too bad. The dog is running out of his skin at present - he's won four of his last five races, including last time at 33-1; I don't know why he was such a big price. Generally he's a pretty good trapper, and I hope he can get it right on the night. Many of these big finals are won at the boxes, and there isn't any margin for error. We've had no problems with Cranham Star throughout the competition, and he goes into the final in very good shape. Many of the big guns were knocked out earlier in the competition, and it seems an open decider. Go Big Hitter could be the one we've all got to beat. We won't be 33-1 this time, I'm sure!

Owners: Cranham Syndicate 6Westmead Tina Nick Savva She had problems with a hock hock: see wine.  at the start of the year, but has come back well. I've always thought very highly of her, and told Bob [Morton] to have a litter with her some time. The Champion Stakes was a logical summer target for Westmead Tina, and I'm pleased she's made the final. She didn't do a fast time in the semi-final [beat Kinda Easy by half a length in 35.98sec], but did come from last to first. Romford doesn't suit every dog, but Westmead Tina runs it okay. The 575m trip is ideal - she wouldn't want to go any further - and she's taken her races in the event well. The bitch is as well as she could be, and I'm hopeful. She's well drawn, and this a race I'd love to win again [successful with Westmead Surprise in 1993 and Westmead Merlin Merlin, in Arthurian legend, magician, seer, and teacher at the court of King Vortigern and later at the court of King Arthur.
