 banks Banamex, BBVA-Bancomer, Bital and Banorte. The Central Bank wants to force the institutions to turn over information on bad loans the government absorbed during the 1994 peso crisis. The monetary authority says it wants to ensure the validity of the loans transferred to the government's rescue-fund agency Fobaproa.
