The Capitol Christmas Tree The Capitol Christmas Tree (formerly the Capitol Holiday Tree) is the decorated tree that is erected annually at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the Christmas holiday season. , whose lighting in December marked the closing of the U.S. Forest Service's Centennial. The tree, on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol, came from Carson National Forest Carson National Forest is a national forest in northern New Mexico, United States. It encompasses 6,070 square kilometers (1.5 million acres) and is administered by the United States Forest Service.  in New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. At its northwestern corner are the so-called Four Corners, where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah meet at right angles; New Mexico is also bordered by Oklahoma (NE), Texas (E, S), and Mexico (S). . Tree New Mexico raised the money to bring the Engelmann spruce to Washington.
