The California Experience.


The California Nobel Prize Nobel Prize, award given for outstanding achievement in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, peace, or literature. The awards were established by the will of Alfred Nobel, who left a fund to provide annual prizes in the five areas listed above.  Centennial Celebration is a Statewide Project to celebrate the Nobel Prize Centennial and pay tribute to California Nobel Laureates Winners of the Nobel Prize are scientists, writers and peacemakers who have been awarded in their field of endeavour, and who are known collectively as either Nobel laureates or Nobel Prize winners.  and the advancement of science and technology.

There is no other prize or award that is more universally sought after or honored.

The State of California has the largest concentration of Nobel Laureates anywhere in the world. Their work, along with their fellow Nobel Laureates around the world, has a far-reaching impact on the development and evolution of our societies.

California companies, as well as companies outside the state, particularly in high technology sectors, have thrived as a result of the science and technological contributions of Nobel Laureates. California has enjoyed substantial economic benefits from the work of Nobel Laureates.

Study beyond the level of secondary education. Institutions of higher education include not only colleges and universities but also professional schools in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.
 and their demonstrated tradition of intellectual pursuit have positioned California as a leader nationally and internationally in advancing high technology and bio-medical science.

* The California Nobel Prize Celebration will honor California Nobel Laureates and their contributions to science and society.

* The California Nobel Prize Celebration will also contribute to greater public awareness about the Nobel Prize and the criteria upon which the prize is awarded.

* The California Nobel prize Celebration will demonstrate the linkages between the Nobel Prize and the "new economy" through high technology (IT) and advanced bio-medical research.

* The California Nobel Prize Celebration will inspire increased incentive and resources for science education and our scientists of tomorrow.
