The 12th Annual CLEAN GULF Conference & Exhibition is proud to announce two co-located meetings for the upcoming event in Galveston, Texas

 on November 5-7, 2002.  & Ceremony on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. The Gulf Guardian Awards were created in 2000 by the partnership of the Gulf of Mexico Program to recognize environmental excellence in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. First, second and third place awards are given each year in six categories: 1) Business, 2) Individuals, 3) Youth/Education, 4) Nonprofit/Civic Organizations, 5) Partnerships, 6) Government.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and , Research and Special Programs Administration, and the Minerals Management Service, will host a public meeting on the Preparedness for Response Exercise Program on Thursday, November 7, 2002 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in conjunction with the CLEAN GULF Conference. The purpose of the meeting is to advise the public of the availability of the revised PREP Guidelines, to respond to questions from the audience regarding implementation of those guidelines and to discuss the government and industry led area exercise schedule for 2003-2005. All four agencies will be represented at the meeting.

Additionally the U.S. Coast Guard will host the Gulf Region Information and Outreach session on the Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO OSRO Oil Spill Response Organization

) program on November 7, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The focus of this meeting is to discuss recent changes in the OSRO Classification Program with the oil transportation industry and other interested parties, and to respond to questions from the audience regarding implementation of those guidelines.
