Officer Shows rushed upstairs, wrapped the elderly woman in a blanket, and carried her out of a second story window and onto the front porch roof because thick smoke prevented him from going back downstairs. He then helped her son-in-law onto the roof and waited with them for the fire department. Officer Pauley saved the family dog from the basement and, unable to get upstairs to assist Officer Shows, ran outside and helped the firemen locate and rescue Officer Shows and the two victims. The officers' brave actions saved the lives of two people and their cherished pet..
