In certain instances, their actions warrant special attention from their respective departments. The Bulletin also wants to recognize those situations that transcend the normal rigors of the law enforcement profession. One evening, Officers Ellis Watson and Joseph DiMaria of the Swissvale, Pennsylvania Swissvale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, nine miles (14 km) east of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Named for a farmstead owned by abolitionist and early feminist Jane Swisshelm, during the industrial age it was the site of the Union Switch and Signal Company , Police Department responded to a building fully engulfed in flames In Flames is a melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden founded in 1990. Along with Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates, they pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal. . Two handicapped, elderly women were trapped in apartments on the second floor. Without air masks or protective clothing, Officers Watson and DiMaria entered and made their way through heavy smoke and flames to the upstairs apartments. After a search, the officers located the two victims and carried them both outside to safety. One of the women required her oxygen tank to remain in use, presenting a risk of explosion; the officers also removed two additional tanks to protect the firefighters that later would arrive. Both victims received treatment at a local hospital and were released. The selfless self·less adj. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 105,167. It is the fourth largest city in the state.
