The Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas Acquires Daxor BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer.

NEW YORK -- Daxor Corporation (AMEX:DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a signed agreement from the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is one of eight United States Army Medical Centers. BAMC has a proud and venerable history dating back to 1870. BAMC's new medical center is a Level I Trauma center consisting of 1.5 million square feet of operational space which features 450 inpatient beds and the world renowned Army Burn Center. Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 will be especially utilized in support of the Army Burn Center.

Dr. Joseph Feldschuh, President of Daxor Corporation, noted that a fundamental problem in treating burn patients is evaluating intravascular volumes in the presence of edema. A patient with peripheral edema may actually have a decreased vascular volume. The improper treatment of a burn patient's volume status by diuresing that patient to eliminate edema in the presence of a low intravascular volume could result in pre-renal azotemia, total renal failure, or even death. Such complications may be avoided if intravascular volume hemodynamics are better understood.
