The blood doctor is the first Lord Nanther, physician to Queen Victoria. He was an expert on diseases of the blood, including the disease of the royals--hemophilia. Nanther also kept extensive records of his life, personally and professionally, and it's the current Lord Martin Nanther who chooses to do the research necessary to write his great-grandfather's biography. But the further Martin explores, the more questions he brings to light. This plays counterpoint counterpoint, in music, the art of combining melodies each of which is independent though forming part of a homogeneous texture. Effectively read in single voice by actor Powell, this historical mystery lingers long over too many tedious details concerning Parliament. However, when Vine is focused on Martin's search to uncover secrets surrounding the first Lord Nanther, the story is riveting riv·et·ing
