The Bhikkhuni "Seema sammatha vinaya kamma": at Sri Tusitaramaya, Panawala Road, Eheliyagoda.


The first foundation laying stone "Seema Gala" was laid on 26th of March, 2004. In order to start the construction, sixteen stone posts were needed to mark the boundary. The ceremony was done according to according to
prep.
1. As stated or indicated by; on the authority of: according to historians.

2. In keeping with: according to instructions.

3.
 the traditional customs and conventions laid out bythe Buddha.

For this grand ceremony, most senior fully ordained or·dain  
tr.v. or·dained, or·dain·ing, or·dains
1.
a. To invest with ministerial or priestly authority; confer holy orders on.

b. To authorize as a rabbi.

 Bhikkhunis were invited. Among them, both thirty one Bhikkhunis who were firstly high ordained at Bodh Gaya Bodh Gaya or Buddh Gaya (both: bd gä`yä), village (1991 pop. 21,692), Bihar state, E central India.  in 1998, and the first group of Sri Lankan high ordained Bhikkhunis. With special invitation to Dhammananda Bhikkuni from Thailand, Songdharmakalyani Temple who has taken the lineage from Sri Lanka Sri Lanka (srē läng`kə) [Sinhalese,=resplendent land], formerly Ceylon, ancient Taprobane, officially Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, island republic (2005 est. pop.  and a disciple disciple: see apostle.  of the Abbess of Sri Tusitaramaya.

 ceremony was held through out "Seth Pirith" chanting, in order to get blessings from gods to ensure success.

This ceremony was commenced at about 11:30 p.m. All Bhikkhunis were assembled fully robed (Ticivara), according to their seniority, to the Seema Malakaya. They were proceeded with large crowd in ground procession throughout chanting of devotees and floral decorations floral decoration

. All this Seema Malakaya comprises by length 22 1/2 feet and 17 feet width. Within that it was divided into nine plots each is six feet width and four feet broad. Being among these plots Bhikkhunis did the five Vinaya Karmma as "Ticivara Awippavasa Seema Samuhanaya." This took about fifty five minutes. After that was a saghakamma called "Samana Sanwasa Seema Samuchanaya". The third one was "Seema Samuthi Nimiththa Keerthanya". Then "Awippawasa Seema Sammuthiya". Finally "Samana Sanwasa Seema Sammuthiya".

After fulfilling all these Vinaya Karma karma or karman (kär`mə, kär`mən), [Skt.,=action, work, or ritual], basic concept common to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. , the event was considered completed. After that all the Bhikkhunis chanted Pirith (blessing for protection). They took a little rest still within the Seema Malakaya. All the time they had been in standing posture. It was really so hard and consumed five hours to fulfill such duty.

Then two bhikkhunis approached the Eastern boundary stone and asked question: "What is the boundary mark of the east". Kumari, an appointed lay woman replied that the Eastern boundary mark was a stone. Then, the two Bhikkhunis acknowledged it. Like wise, the same was done to cover all the eight directions.

This grand ceremony was conducted very successfully with the participation of thirty-two high-ordained Bhikkhunis and other six samanaris and lay people, devotees assisted in numerous ways to make the event successful and memorable.
