and Federal Highway Administrator, Ken Wykle, recently joined forces to propose a Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Action Plan with the ambitious goal of reducing commercial motor vehicle-related deaths by half in the next 10 years.

ARCM's patented proprietary system, consisting of three passive, common sense devices, will be instrumental in turning this goal into a reality. Each device provides drivers with an extra level of safety to improve highway safety -- for themselves and for private drivers.

Lanescan (TM) is a mirror that allows drivers to see one to three lanes of traffic with the ease of pushing a button and automatically returns the mirror to its original set position when the button is released.

This mirror views areas of the road that normal, conventional mirrors do not see and eliminates the dangers associated with not seeing what is in the far lanes of traffic. With Lanescan(TM), drivers will no longer have to lean forward or make other compromising moves to see behind them.

The second device, Lanescan II, is a movable mirror that allows tractor-trailer drivers to see what is in their blind spots. This feature is particularly helpful when drivers make right turns or attempt a blind side backing maneuver.

Lanescan II allows for full view of the right side of the truck without driver intervention; rather, it works in conjunction with the conventional mirror and automatically rotates as the driver makes the right turn.

The third component of the life-saving Lanescan(TM) system, Lanescan III, is the Jackknife jack·knife

Jackknifing means the accidental of an articulated vehicle (i.e. one towing a trailer) such that it resembles the acute angle of a folding pocket knife.
. The sound of the distinct alarm warns of trouble and allows drivers time to regain control before an accident occurs.

The Lanescan(TM) system is a brand new way for drivers to see what, or who, is in harm's way harm's way

and avoid injury or death. It has the potential of reducing current death and accident rates on the roads by 20%.

According to ARCM president Joseph Valentino, insurance companies will soon recognize the value of this system and may reduce the premiums for fleets and individual owners using it.

ARCM has installed over 600 Lanescan(TM) systems for more than100 customers, many of whom have expressed great satisfaction. Quotes include "Well worth the money," "Great peace of mind," and "Gives you time to adjust accordingly."
