The Association of Women Executives in Corrections.

The Association of Women Executives in Corrections (AWEC) is a membership organization with a mission to provide leadership development for female executives, support the career advancement of women in corrections and promote informed discussion of correctional issues in an atmosphere of mutual respect. With a "Each One ... Teach One" philosophy, AWEC's goals are:

* Career development and advancement of female executives at the top administrative levels of corrections;

* Career retention strategies and executive management training;

* The advancement of sound correctional techniques, particularly in the areas of program development, staff training and correctional management;

* Public support for, and understanding of, the criminal justice system with particular emphasis on the corrections function and the interest and acceptance by the community of its responsibility for the prevention of delinquency and the reintegration of persons who have come into conflict with the law; and

* Research in management, leadership and sound correctional practices.
