This award-winning Adj. 1. award-winning - having received awards; "this award-winning bridge spans a distance of five miles"  website from ArtsConnetEd allows students to explore different visual elements and principles that artists use to create their compositions. The site is organized into three main areas and is richly illustrated with images of works of art, animations, and videos. In the Explore the Toolkit An integrated set of software routines or utilities (tools) that are used to develop and maintain applications and databases. There are toolkits for developing almost anything. See tool, developer's toolkit, library, class library and CASE.  section, students can watch animated demonstrations of design concepts, find examples of the concepts in selected works of art, and experiment with the concepts by creating their own compositions. The Artists in Action section offers videos of two artists creating original compositions using the visual elements and principles. Lastly, the Encyclopedia encyclopedia, compendium of knowledge, either general (attempting to cover all fields) or specialized (aiming to be comprehensive in a particular field). In all, this interactive website is an exceptional classroom resource for elementary and middle school students learning about the visual elements and principles. Teachers can even create a customized menu by selecting only those concepts they want their students to focus upon when on the site. Bear in mind that yon need to have MacroMedia's Flash[TM] plug-in An auxiliary program that works with a major software package to enhance its capability. For example, plug-ins are widely used in image editing programs such as Photoshop to add a filter for some special effect.  installed in your computer to take full advantage of the animations and interactivity built into this site.
