The Art of Harp: International Harp Festival, Vol. I. EarthBeat! R272496.The Art of Harp harp, stringed musical instrument of ancient origin, the strings of which are plucked with the fingers. Harps were found in paintings from the 13th cent. B.C. at Thebes. In different forms it was played by peoples of nearly all lands throughout the ages. : International Harp Festival, Vol. I. EarthBeat! R272496. Harp City, dude! I thought I'd mention these two new discs because they represent the polar extremes of harp recordings. The first, La Harpe La Harpe is the name of several people in French history, among whom:
Louis XIV, 1638–1715, king of France (1643–1715), son and successor of King Louis XIII. Early Reign , the mid-17th century. The music, mostly by Couperin, Froberger, and Visee, is either solemn sol·emn adj. 1. Deeply earnest, serious, and sober. 2. Somberly or gravely impressive. See Synonyms at serious. 3. Performed with full ceremony: a solemn High Mass. 4. or stately, and it is most elegantly played on an authentic Baroque harp. The second disc, The Art of Harp, is a collection of many artists playing a variety of different harps, mostly modern, and in chiefly modern repertoire. There is a well-rounded selection of tunes on display here and recorded in diverse locations, some of them live, so the sound is understandably varied. Yet the sonics are never bad, and the better tracks are almost the equal of the DHM DHM Deutsches Historisches Museum (Berlin) DHM Deutsche Harmonia Mundi DHM Digital Human Modeling DHM Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (Nepal) DHM Deep Heat Mining DHM Diploma in Hotel Management recording. These discs are real treats for anyone even vaguely interested in harp music. |
