The Art Teacher's Desktop Reference.

The Art Teacher's Desktop Reference. Michael E. parks. Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice Hall, 1994. 238 pp., hardcover, $32.00.

This book provides quick access to basic information about art and the teaching of art. It is divided into three parts. Part one presents a summary of theories of child development, an overview of methods of art instruction and a chronology of the history of art education. Part two is a quick reference guide to periods and styles in the history of Western and non-western art. Part three includes a dictionary, and bibliography listings for art education. It's worth considering as a text for a pre-service art education course for elementary classroom teachers or art education majors.
