The Animal Agriculture Alliance held its second annual Stakeholders' Summit in Crystal City, Va. The summit, entitled "Challenges to the U.S. Animal Protein Businesses: Domestic and International Responses, Risks and Repositioning," was co-sponsored by Rabobank International and Brakke Consulting. The event drew more than 120 attendees from around the world, including representatives from USDA, EPA and FDA, along with food industry executives and members of the scientific community. Moderated by Max Armstrong of WGN Radio, Chicago, the two-day meeting looked at challenges to animal agriculture, including animal welfare, biotechnology, food safety, international market issues and consumer activism.
