(played by Richard Gere), can now be put to rest. These days ex-gigolo Julian is in his 50s, openly gay, and escorting ladies to high-class events--at least in the imagination of his creator, Paul Schrader, who has written a Gigolo sequel titled The Walker. "He's a society walker, he's homosexual homosexual /ho·mo·sex·u·al/ (-sek´shoo-al) 1. pertaining to, characteristic of, or directed toward the same sex. 2. one who is sexually attracted to persons of the same sex. and lives in D.C., and his gifts are social rather than sexual," Schrader recently told Daily Variety. "Most of the drama involves him and his three women friends.... He takes them to operas and art openings so their husbands don't have to." Schrader says he'll "have my pick" of actresses, since those over 50 "aren't getting offered a lot." And who will fill Gere's shoes? Schrader is hoping for Kevin Kline. If Kline signs on, maybe The Walker could also serve as a sequel to In & Out. |
