There seems to be much of Holmes' own study of medicine in "The Resident Patient"--a young doctor wanting to explore nervous diseases is financially backed by a reclusive re·clu·sive adj. 1. In "The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor," a British peer's American wife disappears right after their wedding ceremony. The listener learns that Holmes, by now an expert solver, has some progressive social views. It is in the last story, "The Adventure of the Final Problem," that Holmes is at his greatest intensity. He confronts "the Napoleon of crime," and Holmes and Professor Moriarty Professor James Moriarty is a fictional character who is the best known antagonist (and archenemy) of the detective Sherlock Holmes.
