The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Gives Technical Achievement Award for the Design of Schneider Super-Cinelux Lenses.

Schneider Optics has announced that five members of the Schneider design team have been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for their design of the Schneider Super-Cinelux lenses for motion picture projection.

In their announcement, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences wrote, "to Udo Schauss, Hildegard Ebbesmeier and Karl Lenhardt for the optical design, and Ralf Linn and Norbert Brinker for the mechanical design of the Schneider Super-Cinelux lenses for motion picture projection."

The Academy announcement continued with, "These projection lenses provide a significant improvement in the quality of the cinema viewing experience."

Among the facts provided on the application for this award were:

- "Super-Cinelux lenses were the first modern 7-element projection lenses with
superior light output and high MTF"

- "Our measurements show that TOTAL light output of Super-Cinelux is 10% higher
than some competitive lenses"

This is the SECOND TIME that members of a Schneider design team have received The Academy's Technical Achievement Award for projection lenses.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Scientific and Technical Awards are given for devices, methods, formulas, discoveries or inventions of special and outstanding value to the arts and sciences of motion pictures, and that also have a proven history of use in the motion picture industry. The Technical Achievement Award, which is an Academy Certificate, is given for those accomplishments that contribute to the progress of the industry.
