The '94 are in.

In an effort to slice more out of the networks' pie, cable serves up the following fare:

HBO kicked off '94 with original movies, series, specials and animation on its slate. Movies in the first two quarters are State of Emergency, Against the Wall, White Nile and Canaans' Way. Joining its series line-up are two children's shows. The first one, a series of seven animated stories voiced by well known stars is The Real Story Of: Ban Ban Black Sheep, Frere Jacques, Sure Le Pont d'Avignon, Au Claire De La Lune, Oh Christmas Tree, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Here Comes the Bride. The second is a 26-part drama, The Legend of White Fang. Two documentaries have been added, America Undercover: Autopsy and Detective of Death. Mr. Bean, with Rowan Atkinson, has an order for two half hours.

SHOWTIME added two series to its schedule: Directed By, and a series of live, one-act plays (as yet unannounced). Last month it started a one half-hour comedy special, A Pair of Jokers #7: George Lopez & Tom Parks, plus a half-hour drama, Showtime 30-Minute Movie: A Hard Rain. Rounding out its movie schedule is an original film, Heads, and Drive-In Classics, remakes of '50s films.

TBS added three documentaries and two specials. As part of Turner Broadcasting's company wide Native American initiative, it offers The Native Americans, a three part, six-hour documentary celebrating the American Indian from Maine to California; Sir David Attenborough and National Geographic Explorer Examine Life in the Freezer, a three-hour documentary depicting the complete natural history of Antarctica, and A Century of Women, three, two-hour segments examining the changing roles of American women. One of the two specials is Moon Shot, a two-part, four-hour program about the U.S. and Soviet space race. The second special is Cats and Dogs, two one-hour shows, each exploring and heralding the qualities of either a cat or a dog.

TNT added five original movies: Cisco Kid, Heart of Darkness, Amelia Earhart, Lakota Woman and In Search of Dr. Seuss. In addition, a four-hour mini-series, Abraham, and a retrospective on Bette Davis, All About Bette, round out its line-up.

USA launched two new series, Weird Science, and an animated half-hour series for adults, Duckman. Its original World Premiere Movies are Hush Little Baby, Shattered Image. Dead Reckoning. Dirty Work, Invasion of Privacy, Dangerous Heart and Silent Witness: What a Child Saw. In the sports genre, USA will telecast four events: The 1994 French Open, Vail Figure Skating Festival. AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

THE DISNEY CHANNEL added three specials: Celine Dion -- The Colour of My Love; Tom Petty: Going Home and The Incredible Voyage of Bill Pinkney. One series, Adventures in the Old West, and two original movies, On Promised Land and The Whipping Boy.

LlFETIME added two movies to its slate: Spenser: Pale Kings & Princes and And Then There Was One, a mini-series, Lie Down with Lions; two specials, Campbell's Portrait of a Teacher and Christy Turlington Backstage, a late night talk show, Clapprood Live; a magazine show covering the news and views of women, Lifetime Magazine, and a series of 20 sixty-second spots, Woman to Woman on Lifetime.

A&E Television Network kicked off '94 with a full plate of new productions and investigative reports targeting new topics. Each month A&E will present a new biography. Its three new mystery series include Inspector Alleyn, Inspector Norse and Cracker. A&E Special Presentations, of which four are slated through February, are America's Castles, Unnatural Pursuits, Smithsonian Expeditions: Treetop Cannibals of New Guinea, and Modern Marvels: Mt. Rushmore. Specials celebrating the stage are Clairol on Broadway: Nunsense; Follies in Concert; Fonteyn & Nureyev: A Perfect Partnership; the Gifted Ones; and Dizzy Gillespie in Cuba: A Night in Havana.

THE FAMILY CHANNEL premieres an original two-hour movie, Race to Freedom: The Underground Railroad, which will simulcast on the BET Network on February 19 and one new series. Life's A Jungle, a 26-episode sitcom about wild animals who live in an ordinary household and communicate with the zookeeper Dad.

THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL added four new series, a mini-series, five documentaries and six specials. The new series are In Care of Nature, 13 half-hours about the pioneers of animal study; Pirates, a 13-part half-hour series about the history of piracy; a three-part, one-hour series. The Power of Dreams; and three one-hour episodes, Rising Tide: Islam and The West. Discovery is also doing a five-part mini-series on Watergate. The five documentaries are: Contentious Years: Eisenhower and the Politics of Change, A Footstep A way about mines and their potential for devastation; Loch Ness Discovered; Normandy: The Great Crusade; and Mustang the Hidden Kingdom. Specials rounding out Discovery's slate are: The Cronkite Report; Maquiladores, which presents disturbing statistics on birth defects, childhood cancer and anencephaly in Texas; Praying for Rain; Queen of the Elephants; Harlem Diary and a world premiere, Lowell Observatory, celebrating its 100th anniversary.

THE LEARNING CHANNEL premieres a two-episode documentary, Ancient Journeys: Hidden Cities of Mexico and Ancient Journeys: Searching for Dinosaurs, and a four-episode one-hour documentary series, science Frontiers: Origins of Life, Flying the Space Shuttle, To Kill and Kill Again and The Life-Saving Poison. In addition, there are three series on cooking: Yvonne's Cookbook, 63 half-hours; Biba's Italian Kitchen, 65 half-hours; and Caprial's Cafe, 18 half-hour programs. Rounding out TLCs series slate are: Smithsonian Treasures, This Century -- America: A Look Back; Great Country inns; Battles That Changed the World; Connections; Great Books; Histories Mysteries; Legends of Histories; Mysteries of the Brain; Secrets of Technology; Forces Beyond; and Paleo World. A 30-minute documentary special, Archeology: Ice Age Crossings premiered in early January, plus two, two-part docuspecs, The Operation and Angel Letters. The schedule concluded with TLC Presents: First ladies of the White House, a one-hour special looking at America's unofficial officials.

E! ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION added four series to its line-up: In Focus, The Gossip Show, FYE! For Your Entertainment and Entertainment News Feed.

ESPN added two half-hour series to its block of fitness programs: Step Reebok, and Run The Gauntlet, an athletic game show. In addition, they've added a sports trivia game show, Designated Hitter.

MTV is launching The State, a half-hour sketch comedy series for '94.
