 Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs will remain open. Like several other archdiocesan offices, it was slated for closure because of the archdiocese's $4.3 million budget deficit.

"It was a gift from heaven, certainly," Father Alexei Smith told The Tidings, Los Angeles' archdiocesan newspaper.

Also, the Respect Life Office will keep going for another year thanks to donations from Physicians for Compassionate com·pas·sion·ate
