Thanks for the leadership.Tom, Smull, Metro Iowa Plus Newspapers, 2004-2005 NAMA Na·ma n. pl. Nama or Na·mas 1. A member of a people of southwest Africa. 2. The Khoikhoin language of the Nama. President-Elect When Tony Thompson
Tony Thompson , then Iowa Chapter president-elect, and Kathy Murphy, recruited me to join NAMA eighteen years ago, one of the benefits I remember them saying and one that has been reiterated several times is that NAMA offers leadership development with little risk. Becoming involved in NAMA offers people the chance to make decisions, work with people of diverse skills and hone leadership ability without risk to art individual company. Maybe we don't promote that member benefit so much now, but it is a very real one. It is a benefit that can help us as we recruit young people in the industry to join NAMA. In addition, we all can learn from the exemplary leadership throughout NAMA--from chapter committees to chapter boards to national committees and presidents. We have had some excellent national NAMA presidents, a legacy that has led NAMA through good times and tough times. It is also a legacy of vision and direction and trying to see five to ten or more years down the road to position NAMA for the future. The heritage of good leadership goes back to NAMA's beginnings and every year new leaders emerge and national leaders show their strengths. Let's not Let's Not is a science fiction short story by Isaac Asimov. It was first published in Boston University Graduate Journal in December 1954. It was written for no payment as a favour to the journal, and later appeared in the collection Buy Jupiter. forget the leadership training NAMA offers us as we observe it on the local, regional and national level and let's not forget to promote it as a member benefit as we recruit the new members.
