TextWare Introduces FormWare for Windows 95/NT; A Complete Image Based Forms Processing Solution.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1996--AIIM '96 Show & Conference--TextWare Corporation today introduced and demonstrated FormWare(TM) for Windows 95 / NT, a family of high performance software modules that provide a complete forms processing solution. The new product allows users to quickly automate data capture from forms, eliminate keystrokes to reduce data entry costs and still maintain the high level of accuracy required in forms processing applications.

FormWare uses a modular architecture that is open, scaleable and workflow controlled. It includes forms definition, scanning, image pre-processing, OCR/ICR/OMR, barcode recognition and post recognition processing modules. All FormWare modules are designed to operate in a high volume, batch processing mode and run on industry standard, PC based client-server platforms.

FormWare's forms definition module provides an object oriented, integrated development environment that takes full advantage of the new graphical user interface available with Windows 95 and NT Workstation 4.0. Extensive use of visual tools, drag and drop technology, floating or dockable toolbars, variable sizing bars and the right mouse button minimize development times and the need for previous programming experience. Sharable object and inheritance concepts further speed application development and eliminate redundant programming efforts. Once an application has been designed, FormWare generates and displays a logical workflow that can be visually edited or executed in a test mode to fine tune applications. A Forms Wizard is included to lead novices through these functions in an intuitive manner.

FormWare combines batch scanning, image pre-processing and recognition technologies with the 32-bit processing power of Windows 95 and NT Workstation 4.0 to provide accurate results and fast throughput. Neural network based OCR, ICR and OMR engines from Nestor and Calera and the Visionshape barcode recognition engine are included to quickly read machine print, hand print, marks and barcodes in images. Seamless access to other leading recognition engines, including those from AEG, CGK, GTESS, Mitek and Symbus, allows users to easily implement multiple recognition engines and custom voting algorithms to further improve recognition results.

FormWare's post recognition processing module reflects TextWare's historical expertise and provides reject repair, image data entry, key verification and data validation to complete and perfect the data capture process. It simultaneously provides the speed of "out of context" reject repair, the accuracy of "in context" reject repair and data validation in a unique one pass approach that maximizes throughput and operator productivity. Operators can achieve reject repair keystroke rates that were previously thought to be unattainable and approach the 11,263 keystrokes per hour reported by TAWPI as an industry average for high speed data entry.

FormWare's JobFlow(TM) module provides specialized data capture workflow capabilities to automatically route batches of images and data from module to module and graphically report the status of all unprocessed in process and completed work. Using this information, managers can rapidly identify processing problems, prioritize jobs and visually reconfigure systems to optimize throughput.

FormWare will ship to beta sites following AIIM '96 and be generally available during the third quarter of 1996. Fully configured FormWare systems will be priced from $34,000. BancTec, Inc., PCL Group Ltd. in Great Britain, Recognition Japan Inc. and other system integrators and international distributors have announced plans to remarket the product.
