Texas City Selects Printrak to Replace Outdated Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management Systems With Latest Technology.

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--The Dallas suburb of Mesquite, Texas, has selected Printrak International Inc. (Nasdaq:AFIS), the leading provider of digital justice solutions, to integrate a new computer aided dispatch (CAD) system with a records management system (RMS).

These systems are to be shared by police, fire and emergency medical services operations.

The $2.2 million purchase replaces older technology that was installed in 1989, according to Mesquite Mayor Mike Anderson. "Printrak's selection was based on their state-of-the-art technology, flexibility to accommodate upgrades and ability to interface the new equipment to existing systems within the city and at the Texas Department of Public Safety," Anderson said.

The Printrak CAD system automates the processing of incoming 9-1-1 calls and dispatch of police, fire and/or ambulance units. The CAD system will be interfaced to a graphical information system that automatically displays map coordinates to dispatchers. It will also be integrated with a RMS that provides software modules tailored to police, fire and EMS data collection and reporting practices.

The integrated systems provide real-time responses to emergency calls and are designed to protect and support the citizens of Mesquite County. The Printrak systems use an open, upgradable architecture that enables them to be ready for future cell phone mapping requirements.

A fault-tolerant Tandem computer ensures continuous availability of system resources for emergency dispatch operations, while dispatchers and RMS workstations are based on industry-standard PC platforms (Windows NT) for ease of operation and expansion.
