The original 1,800-square-foot library was built in 1909. A 1974 renovation added two corridor wings creating the two courtyards, preserved the original structure and added a children's library, community meeting room and an expanded central structure. This current expansion project calls for adding 17,000 square feet to the present 22,000 square feet. The new facility will increase book stack shelving for the general collection and add a conference room, a doubled-in-size children's library, a teen library, a larger lobby, a computer lab and renovated community meeting room with kitchen. The renovation will bring state-of-the-art equipment, systems and capabilities to library patrons. Technology aspects of this project include a computer lab and study tables with computer plug-ins, allowing for Internet and e-mail connections. The interior will be updated with new furnishings and finishes throughout.
