Terrel Rhodes appointed AAC & U vice president.AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) An audio compression technology that is part of the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standards. AAC, especially MPEG-4 AAC, provides greater compression and better sound quality than MP3, which also came out of the MPEG standard. & U has announced the appointment of Terrel (Terry) Rhodes as its new vice president for quality, curriculum, and assessment. Rhodes, who succeeds Andrea Leskes, comes to AAC & U from Portland State University (PSU PSU - power supply unit ), which he served as vice provost for curriculum, dean of undergraduate studies, and professor of public administration. Rhodes has been the liaison from PSU to AAC & U's Greater Expectations initiative and to the more recent project on integrative learning Integrative Learning is a learning theory describing a movement toward integrated lessons helping students make connections across curricula. This higher education concept is distinct from the elementary and high school "integrated curriculum" movement. that AAC & U cosponsors with the Carnegie Foundation
The Carnegie Foundation ("Carnegie Stichting" in Dutch) is an organization based in The Hague, The Netherlands. for the Advancement of Teaching. He also is a faculty member in the AAC & U Institute on General Education, which, together with initiatives emerging from Greater Expectations, will continue to be coordinated by the Office of Quality, Curriculum, and Assessment that Rhodes will now lead. Terry Rhodes will assume the AAC & U vice presidency in August. |
