"Terracotta brings high availability Also called "RAS" (reliability, availability, serviceability) or "fault resilient," it refers to a multiprocessing system that can quickly recover from a failure. There may be a minute or two of downtime while one system switches over to another, but processing will continue.  and scalability to applications running on Apache Geronimo," said Phil Robinson, Vice President Global Alliances for Virtuas. "We strongly believe in the customer demand for this solution, and so we were pleased to partner with Terracotta to complete the integration work."

Terracotta is a natural fit for enterprises planning to implement or already using Geronimo, as no changes are needed to the application code. Since clustering happens at the JVM level , the Geronimo framework does not have to change or become cumbersome in order to adapt to the demands of large enterprises.

"Terracotta is inherently aligned with the 'best of breed' approach that Geronimo provides," said Ari Zilka, Founder and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Whether IT organizations are using commercial solutions, open source, or a combination, we bring reliability that enterprises can count on when building their JEE stack."

As part of Terracotta's strategy to combine enterprise-class availability and scalability solutions in concert with open source, Geronimo joins Apache Tomcat and the Spring framework in their ability to deliver low-cost, highly-available solutions to address today's IT demands.

Information on the Terracotta partnership with Virtuas will be available at the Virtuas booth (#719) at OSCON during July 24-28.
