Terracotta Hosts Clustering Struts Webinar for Apache Developers on November 29, 2006.

Brown and Boner Demonstrate How to Build Struts Applications to Run in a High Scale, High Availability Also called "RAS" (reliability, availability, serviceability) or "fault resilient," it refers to a multiprocessing system that can quickly recover from a failure. There may be a minute or two of downtime while one system switches over to another, but processing will continue.  Environment

Apache Struts is an open-source web application framework for developing Java EE web applications.
framework developers - "Clustering your Struts Applications" - on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. To enroll, visit the Terracotta website at www.terracottatech.com/webinar_struts.shtml.

Designed for application developers, the Webinar brings together renowned Java developers, Don Brown and Jonas Boner, to discuss the statefulness of the Struts framework and varying solutions to clustering Struts when running enterprise applications. The Webinar is part of a series of Clustered Java Virtual Machine A Java interpreter. The Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is software that converts the Java intermediate language (bytecode) into machine language and executes it. The original JVM came from the JavaSoft division of Sun.  (JVM See Java Virtual Machine.

"Terracotta's emergence in the clustering space has the potential to make Struts easier for everyone to use. Clustering Java has historically been difficult, but if Struts can deliver on the promise of simplifying web application development, even in the presence of clustered deployments, our community needs to hear about it. There is still more testing to be done, but if all goes well, then this synergistic combination makes life easier for web developers," said Don Brown.

In this Webinar, attendees will hear from Jonas Boner, senior engineer at Terracotta and creator of the AspectWerkz AOP (Automatic OPerator) An IRC channel host who moderates the topics, keeps online users in check and provides help for newbies unfamiliar with IRC software (mIRC, etc.). Whenever AOPs come into the channel, they inherit operator status.  framework, and Don Brown, committer of the Struts Framework and maven for Struts 2.

Attendees will learn:

* How to cluster a Struts application without O/R O/R On Request
O/R Outright (foreign exchange transactions)
O/R Overrated
O/R Originator/Recipient
O/R Operational Requirement
O/R Office Routing
mapping or complex data management infrastructure

* How to guarantee high availability, eliminate single points of failure, and ensure that customer SLAs are met

* How clustering at the JVM layer under the Struts Framework vastly simplifies development and performance tuning for the Struts community.

Terracotta makes clustering Struts applications fast and simple, without sacrificing application reliability. Terracotta for Struts helps enterprises avoid unnecessary O/R mapping by clustering Plain Old Java Objects. Uniquely, the technology does not rely on Java serialization se·ri·al·ize
