Terion Adds to Its Intellectual Property Portfolio with Newly Issued Cargo Sensor Patent.

) has granted the company a new patent covering the FleetView Cargo Sensor. Terion's Cargo Sensor is unique in its ability to detect cargo as small as a 4x4x4 pallet throughout the entire length of the trailer. Competing alternatives typically measure only the front half of the trailer.

The patent, No. 7015824, "Trailer Cargo Detection Using Ultrasonic Transducers," covers a system and method for determining the presence or absence of cargo over the entire interior area of the trailer. In particular, the cargo detector can have from one to three modes including short range, long range, and proximity range, and can detect cargo located flush against a front or rear wall of the trailer, or anywhere in between.
