Terayon DVB Cable Modem Receives Industry Approval.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 2000

Terayon Communication Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:TERN) today announced that its UCM-220 cable modem has been officially recognized as meeting the European DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) standard for data-over-cable systems, earning the coveted "EuroModem" designation. The DVB/DAVIC Interoperability Consortium has verified that Terayon's UCM-220 modem complies with the DVB standard and is fully interoperable with other DVB-certified products and systems, which enable cable television operators to provide their subscribers high-speed Internet access and other broadband services.

Terayon's UCM-220 cable modem is a key component of the company's DVB-based broadband cable data system. This end-to-end system is composed of a UCMT-2000 Interactive Network Adapter (INA Ina (ē`nä), city (1990 pop. 60,062), Nagano prefecture, central Honshu, Japan, on the Tenryu River. It is an agricultural and industrial center with a famous agricultural school. ), which resides at a cable operator's network headend, and UCM-220 modems, which are located in subscribers' homes.
