), a leading manufacturer of integrated mixed-signal and structured digital semiconductor products, received delivery of the 150th Gen4 Microwave instrument for use with the microFLEX(TM) test system. AMIS selected the Teradyne(R) Gen4 Microwave test solution after an extensive evaluation process with a focus on technical performance and ability to deliver the lowest cost of test for its portfolio of industrial and medical devices. AMIS has deployed multiple Gen4 options at its engineering sites and production facility in the Philippines.

AMI Semiconductor's market-focused wireless capabilities provide customers with system-on-chip (SOC) solutions that significantly reduce system cost, power consumption, form factor, and time-to-market for short range, low data rate wireless applications. AMIS will use the broad range, robustness and accuracy of the Gen4 module to test its leading edge wireless products that provide solutions for customers in the automotive, medical, industrial, and commercial markets.

Gartner Dataquest, Teradyne continues as the market leader for RF/wireless test solutions with over 50% market share covering systems that test RF semiconductors for the wireless device market.

Teradyne's Gen4 Microwave option covers the broadest range of RF semiconductor test applications in the marketplace and enables the lowest cost of test through scalable multisite test. The Gen4 Microwave instrument can be configured from 4 to 38 RF ports and offers a full range of scalar scalar, quantity or number possessing only sign and magnitude, e.g., the real numbers (see number), in contrast to vectors and tensors; scalars obey the rules of elementary algebra. Many physical quantities have scalar values, e.g.  and vector source and measurement capabilities. Users also have the ability to perform functional test via modulated signal generation and analysis functionality for mainstream wireless protocol standards.

"AMIS performed a comprehensive vendor evaluation to select a next generation wireless test system," said Craig Nelson, Director Worldwide Mixed-Signal Products Test and Development, AMI Semiconductor. "We selected the microFLEX with the Gen4 Microwave instrumentation for its proven functional performance as well as its high throughput and test economics."

"Teradyne continues to maintain clear market leadership in RF ATE," said Dave Trounson, General Manager, Semiconductor Test Wireless Business Unit, Teradyne. "We can attribute our significant wireless market share to the broad range of wireless markets our RF test solution serves and the technical and economic requirements it meets. It is not just a niche test solution, but a broad based RF ATE solution."

About the FLEX Platform

The Teradyne FLEX Test Platform advances test technologies in an architecture designed for high-efficiency, multi-site test Multi-site test, or "multisite test", or "concurrent test", or "parallel test" are all semiconductor Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) terms that generally refer to testing of multiple "devices" at the same time. . The Platform offers multiple systems so customers can optimize for performance, capacity and capital cost to achieve lower cost-of-test. FLEX Platform systems span test requirements from DFT DFT - discrete Fourier transform  and structural test to standard analog and mixed-signal to the latest high-integration System-on-a-Chip (SOC) and System-In-Package (SIP) devices for consumer, automotive, mass storage, wireless, and data communications data communications, application of telecommunications technology to the problem of transmitting data, especially to, from, or between computers. In popular usage, it is said that data communications make it possible for one computer to "talk" with another.  applications. The FLEX Platform architecture delivers instrument synchronization and control in device clock time on a vector-by-vector basis, even in multiple time domains. A Universal Slot test head design allows easy reconfiguration for changing test needs. The IG-XL[TM] software operating system operating system (OS)
