CDC-2 (CME/FL-CE) CORRECTIONAL HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS--WEBCAST

The webcast will be the second of a continuing series of live webcasts addressing critical issues facing America's health. Research shows that improved access to medical care and preventative services for inmates can benefit communities by reducing disease transmission and medical costs. There are serious political, logistical and financial barriers to improving health services in jails/prisons and ensuring that a continuum of care exists between jails/prisons and the community. Chief among the barriers is a lack of understanding of the role each plays and their reluctance to develop partnerships. The goal of the project is to develop an understanding of the needs and responsibilities of the different partners in an effort to improve our nation's health and to foster greater interaction between corrections and public health.
