Tennessee nurses celebrate National Nurses Week in may.
Since Knoxville prohibits transit ads, TNA ran a special Salute to Tennessee Nurses ad in the Knoxville News-Sentinel's special Nurses Week section Sunday, May 7 in Medical Careers and Monday, May 8 in the Health & Fitness section, as well as 7 days on www.knoxcareers.com. The Tennessee Nurses Association also ran a special ad to salute nurses in the Johnson City Press in upper East Tennessee from Sunday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 10.
The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville held its third annual Salute to Nurses Awards and Luncheon to honor area nurses, and the Tennessee Nurses Association provided the judges for the contest as it has since the beginning of the program. This year's TNA members who served as judges include Susie Compton, MSN, RN; Sharon Craig, MSN, RN, APRN, BC; and Lynne Shores, PhD, RN. Chita Farrar, EdD, RN, TNA District 3 President, also represented the Tennessee Nurses Association at the Salute to Nurses Luncheon along with Judges Sharon Craig and Lynne Shores (pictured at right).
Other Nurses Week activities across Tennessee included Memorial Healthcare System in Chattanooga displaying a poster and distributing brochures and membership information promoting the Tennessee Nurses Association during Nurses Week, and several events hosted by TNA District Associations and other organizations honored TNA members during National Nurses Week. Read about these events and awards in the District News section on page 8.
