Tenement Museum honors landlords.The Lower East Side Tenement A comprehensive legal term for any type of property of a permanent nature—including land, houses, and other buildings as well as rights attaching thereto, such as the right to collect rent. While few historians have explored the role of landlords in City history, the Tenement Museum is committed to interpreting not only the former tenants of 97 Orchard St., but its owners, as well. |
