All of the candidates are anti-abortion save Rudolph Giuliani, who does not seem yet to have hit on the precise position he will pretend to believe. All of them want to cut taxes, although they have no serious tax plans; all of them want to cut spending, although they would not identify a program they would reduce. Maybe the candidates will have a better night when they operate under a different format. If they can't do better, it is going to be a long election cycle.
