"Mobil Five-Star establishments represent the very finest available," said Mark Jacobson, Program Advisor to the Mobil Travel Guide. "Unwavering quality and excellence are their hallmarks, and, very important, this near-perfection must be sustained without interruption from one year to the next. The utmost attention is paid to every detail of a guest's needs, from reservations to a warm reception, attentive but unobtrusive service, and of course, ideal guest quarters or exquisite food. Suffice it to say that when you visit a Mobil Five-Star establishment, you know it, and the memory of the fine experience lingers."

In addition, 14 lodgings and 26 restaurants in New York State earned Mobil Four-Star Awards, which designates them as "outstanding and worth a special trip." Several of these establishments have consistently earned the Mobil Four-Star Award during recent years. The honorees represent a select group chosen from over 22,000 lodging and dining establishments included in the 13 volumes of the 1999 Mobil Travel Guide.
