But 2002 is a new year and many firms see promise over the next few quarters. While business in many sectors is picking up, owners are still exhibiting caution about hiring new employees to meet the demand. Instead, they're they're

In April, the most recent month for which figures are available, temporary agencies accounted for the biggest gains in U.S. jobs, adding 50,000 to 65,000 new positions. The most openings at the moment appear to be in light industrial, warehousing and distribution work.
