Temple City project.


In early 2007, developer Randy Wang has plans to break ground on a five-acre mixed-use development Mixed-use development refers to the practice of allowing more than one type of use in a building or set of buildings. In planning zone terms, this can mean some combination of residential, commercial, industrial, office, institutional, or other land uses.  in Temple City.

The project, called Piazza piazza

Open square or marketplace, surrounded by buildings, in an Italian town or city. It was equivalent to the plaza of Spanish-speaking countries. The term became more widely used in the 16th–18th century, denoting any large open space with buildings around it.

, is being billed as a high-end lifestyle center and will feature 52 condos and more than 100,000 square feet of retail space.

"It will be really nice and very innovative and new to the Temple City and San Gabriel Valley The San Gabriel Valley is one of the principal valleys of southern California. It lies to the east of the city of Los Angeles, to the north of the Puente Hills, to the south of the San Gabriel Mountains, and to the west of the Inland Empire.  area," said Peter Yousefi, of Grubb & Ellis Co., who has been tapped to handle the property's leasing program along with Jeremy Jurow.

Yousefi said the upscale project will fill a void in the area, adding, "People are well off, and the household income within a one-mile radius is $65,000."

The development, which is located at the northeast corner of Las Tunas Drive and Rosemead Boulevard, will include a mix of national retailers, high-end retail, and various dining options. It is slated to open in 2009.
