Highlights of the Quarter

During the first quarter, product revenue increased 66 percent to $2.2 million from the same period last year, while service revenue increased 42 percent to $10.3 million. The Company's gross margin for the first quarter was 35 percent.

This is slightly lower than first quarter of 1998 due primarily to the use of third-party software in conjunction with Template Software products in the performance of a government contract. General and administrative expenses in the first quarter of 1999, as a percentage of revenues decreased to 12.5 percent from 14.6 percent for the same period in 1998.

During the quarter, the Company strengthened its sales and management team with the appointments of Mike Judd Michael Galen Judd (born June 30, 1975, in San Diego, California) was a Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher.
