Tempest Software Taps Peter Abene as Vice President, Business Development.

today announced the appointment of Peter V. Abene to the post of Vice President, Business Development, giving Tempest's executive team over a century of aggregated experience.

In his new position, Mr. Abene will manage Tempest Software's program to develop strategic alliances for the corporation with an emphasis on long-term revenue streams, expanding Other Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and network provider relationships, and exploring additional markets for partnerships. Mr. Abene will also lead activities in high-level product direction, acquisitions and joint product development with partners. His initial focus will be on mutually beneficial business opportunities, partnering with companies whose products and services would benefit from the inclusion of Tempest technologies.

Mr. Abene comes to Tempest with over thirty years' experience in the computer and communications industries. He has extensive leadership experience in a variety of technical and business positions, most recently as chief technical officer of BuildNet, the residential homebuilding supply chain optimizer. He was responsible for the design and implementation of an e-commerce exchange and the e-commerce enablement of six back office systems.

For 13 years, Mr. Abene worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in diverse business development, global marketing and account and alliance management positions, both domestically and internationally, directly supporting clients including CISCO, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Chevron, Xerox and Computer Associates. Other earlier assignments involved responsibility for engineering and technical development. Prior to that, Mr. Abene had a four-year tenure at ITT World Communications as director of product development and director of strategic planning. He served 13 years as a communications and engineering officer in the United States Air Force.
