Telular Launches Next-Generation Fixed Cellular Terminals At CTIA Wireless 2005.

NEW ORLEANS -- New CDMA2000 1X Fixed Cellular Products Offer an Alternative To Traditional Wireline Service in Global Markets

Telular Corporation (Nasdaq:WRLS) today announced the expansion of its market-leading portfolio of fixed wireless devices with a new line of Phonecell(R) fixed cellular terminals for use on CDMA2000 1X networks worldwide. The new Phonecell SX5T provides enterprise customers and homeowners worldwide an alternative convenient and cost-effective means for using a cellular network in places where a traditional wired landline is inefficient, too costly or even impossible to deploy.

The Phonecell SX5T terminal allows users to take advantage of using wireless service instead of landline service in the home or office. A consumer simply plugs the Phonecell SX5T terminal into an ordinary phone jack to enable devices connected to the same phone line to work through the wireless network. The Phonecell SX5T terminal connects not only to ordinary telephones, but also to other devices, such as fax machines and the dial-out port of satellite television receivers and digital video recorders. The terminal is designed to be self installed by the end user.

A customized version of the Phonecell SX5T terminal is currently in a five-city trial with Sprint. Telular is also working with other carriers implementing wireline substitution programs. In remote areas in North America where wireline infrastructure is not available, Telular is in partnerships with wireless and landline operators to provide primary telephony services to consumers.

The Phonecell SX5T terminal features Telular's patented RJ-11 interface that emulates the local phone company, providing dial tone and services such as caller ID, call waiting and call hold. By connecting an optional USB or RS-232 data cable to a personal computer, users can also obtain easy access to high-speed packet data services and PC fax. An optional rechargeable battery is available to enable backup operation in case of power outages.

For the Latin America, Asia and Africa markets, the Phonecell SX5T-500C includes these features on top of wireless connectivity for payphone, public calling office and PBX applications. The Phonecell SX5T-500C CDMA2000 1X terminals are available in either single band 800MHz or single band 1900MHz models. In North America, the SX5T-505 includes GPSOne positioning technology for E-911 Phase 2 compliance, as well as TDD/TTY for the hearing and speech impaired, and is configured as a dual band 800/1900MHz product.
